New Blog Hop…

Well the 2015 New Quilt Bloggers Blog Hop has now finished.  However, don’t despair our wonderful leaders have got something else lined up for us, a New “Block” Blog Hop…

It is sponsored by Fabri-Quilt who will be supplying us with this lovely Watermelon Summer Colour bundle of fabric…

Our task is to design a 12″ x 12″ finished block using some or all of the above fabrics.  Not only that but we then have to write a tutorial for our block that will be published in the blog hop w/c the 31st August, How exciting!

The timing for this challenge is going to be tight as the fabrics are coming from America so I will get them a little later than most people.  Also we will be on holiday for 10 days in the middle of August!

However, I have roughly sketched a few block ideas already, although I keep coming back to my first design as my favorite, isn’t that typical!  I’m going to make it up using some scraps before I go away so that I’m not too pushed for time when I get back.  I’ll also scribble down my “tutorial” and see if it works (and makes sense)!!

It is actually harder than I had thought it would be to design my own unique block.  I am a little worried that it will be too simple compared to others but I guess it’s all experience at the end of the day, another first, and who knows I might get the bug!

  1. Hi Emma, I've been working on a sample block too. MIne is also going to be simple. It IS harder than it seems initially, but it has been a fun challenge. I am learning so much participating in this group. I'm going to write a post sometime soon and will link to yours about this new block hop because you explained the project so well. Happy creating! 2. I decided to join too. I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with. It's quite intimidating, I've never done anything like this before. But I think we will all come up with fabulous ideas.

  3. I came up with a simple block then sewed it and realized it wasn't that simple. How big should each block be cut if you have 5 rows? I got the math wrong and had to start over. It was good advice to have a “dry run” before cutting into the Watermelons.
