The Irish Chain Twist Quilt-A-Long, Parts Six & Seven…

For reasons I will explain in another post I found myself a week behind on the Irish Chain Twist Quilt-A-Long which is being hosted by Melissa at Happy Quilting.

These last two tasks were to assemble and stitch the applique flower block.  Fortunately for me I am making the Wall Hanging and that only requires one block!

As usual the instructions were crystal clear and I completed both tasks really easily on Monday.

First up we cut the petal shapes and pinned them into place on our background block…

Then we had to choose which stitch style to use for our secure stitching.  I wanted to use the Blanket stitch but it would appear my machine doesn’t have that setting!  I looked at zig zag stitching but they all seemed too big.  I eventually settled on a stitch somewhere between the two…

I’ve not done applique before so I wasn’t too sure how it would work out, but I have to say that I’m really pleased with it.

Now to put all of our blocks together…

I can’t wait to see the completed quilt top!
