The Irish Chain Twist Quilt-A-Long, Part Five…

Today I have completed part five of the Irish Chain Twist Quilt-A-Long which is being hosted by Melissa at Happy Quilting, this week’s task was  entitled “Modern Patchwork Blocks“.

We started by transforming last week’s strip blocks into 4 patch blocks…

… and then adding our sashing strips to create the larger blocks…

The only trouble is I wasn’t happy with the horizontal sashing.  I had spent so much time making sure the edges meet up that I hadn’t even thought about the sashing being level!

I debated leaving them but decided it was going to annoy me too much so I un-picked them and re-did them…

You maybe can’t see a huge difference but I am definitely happier!  I know I would have just homed in on that particular part every time I looked at the finished quilt.  The advantage of doing the Wall Hanging is that I only had four blocks to amend!!

Melissa had warned that this was a big task this week but I whizzed through it again, a sure sign that I am really enjoying it!

So that’s two of the big block patterns done…

I can’t wait to see them all come together.  The next task is “Appliqued Chains Block”.  I’ve not done any applique work before so this should be interesting!
